Forks (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Names: Names you enter for people at your table. These are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.
• Bill Data:Restaurant names, item names, prices, tax amounts, and tip amounts. All stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
• Saved Friends: Names you choose to save for repeated use. Stored locally on your device.

Information Collected Automatically

• Receipt Images: When you use the receipt scanning feature, photos are temporarily processed through our secure proxy server for AI-powered text extraction. Images are not stored on our servers and are discarded immediately after processing.
• Subscription Data: Your subscription status is managed by RevenueCat and Apple. We receive anonymized subscription status information but do not have access to your Apple ID or payment details.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Bill Splitting: To calculate and display proportional bill shares among individuals.
• Receipt Scanning: To extract text and amounts from receipt images using AI-powered optical character recognition.
• Subscription Management: To verify your subscription status and provide access to premium features.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Google Gemini API (via secure proxy):For AI-powered receipt scanning. Receipt images are sent to our Cloudflare Worker proxy, which forwards them to Google's Gemini Vision API for text extraction. Images are processed in-memory and are not stored by us or Google beyond the processing request. Google's data handling is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• RevenueCat: For subscription and in-app purchase management. RevenueCat receives anonymized device identifiers and purchase receipts. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
• Apple App Store: For app distribution and payment processing. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

4. Data Storage and Security

• All bill data, names, and history are stored locally on your deviceusing Apple's SwiftData framework.
• We do not maintain user accounts, databases, or cloud storage for your personal data.
• Receipt images sent for scanning are transmitted over HTTPS and are not retained after processing.
• If you delete the app, all locally stored data is permanently removed from your device.

5. Data Retention

Since data is stored locally on your device, retention is entirely within your control. You can delete individual bill splits from the history at any time. Uninstalling the app removes all data permanently.

6. Children's Privacy

Forks is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

7. Your Rights

Since your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it:

• Access: All your data is visible within the app.
• Deletion: Delete individual splits from history, or uninstall the app to remove all data.
• Portability:You can share split summaries via the app's share feature.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App and updating the “Last updated” date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
